Electrician Screwdriver

This is a device that an electrician uses to put screws into a material and is similar to other screwdrivers with a few minor changes.  With this type of screwdriver the handle is generally insulated to protect the electrician from being shocked.  In some instances the shaft is also insulated.  What the type of this screwdriver looks like will depend on the type of screw that is being put in the material  Generally an electrician in Bricktown will carry a set of these screwdrivers instead of just one so they will have a choice of heads for the screws they are using.  There are some that come with a driver that will allow the electrician to just change out the heads, or bits, instead of having several screwdrivers.  They will have one driver along with several bits, or screwdriver heads.

The most common types of screwdrivers that the electrician uses are:

  • Flathead—this is also known as the blade-style driver. With this one there is a straight blade-like head that can easily fit in the slot of the screw. It is a design that will allow the most torque delivery. The drawback is that sometimes with this model is that when using it to drive a screw into the material it can move out of position or slide.
  • Phillips head—with this type of screwdriver it has a cross pattern on the head and the center of it extends farther than the wings of the cross. This allows it to be fitted in more securely into the screw.  It is also the one that is most commonly used by the electrician.

Generally when an electrician is working on an electrical system there will be no current running through it but sometimes things happen and there is current.  This is why it is very important that the handle has to be insulated.  It will help to prevent any electrical shocks to be transferred from the electrical system to the hands of the electrician in Toms River and causing an injury or burns.  Sometimes if the shock is bad enough it can cause death.
