1:15 PM When are short curtains the right choice? |
There are several lengths curtains can come in, and in general, how long you choose to have them is based on where they are your own personal taste and preference, and if anything is beneath the window that might affect how the drapes hang. Here we will look at what those different lengths include and when short curtains are the right choice! Curtain lengths that are out there Of course, you can have curtains made to whatever length you want but there are four standard lengths otherwise. Sill, Apron, Floor, and Puddle. From longest down to shortest; Puddle – Luxurious and make a strong statement. These puddle on the floor and are for elegant formal spaces like a dining room or even a bedroom. They tend to measure about 108 inches. Floor – These are about 96 inches long and fall so that they hang just above the floor. These are also for more formal rooms like a dining room but could also suit a formal living room. Apron – At about 84 inches long these are curtains that hang about 4 inches past a window sill. These are for rooms that have a more casual setting and are also used to make a window appear longer. Sill – These are the short curtains. They are for casual rooms and work well in places where people need to relax. They are about 63 inches long and sit at the windowsill. When to use short curtains
In general, designers prefer longer curtains over shorter from an aesthetic stance, but sometimes short curtains work better. With some good choices, they can look great too. |
