Resurfacing and Painting Concrete

Concrete is supposed to be tough but over time it can start to degrade, and become marred with cracks and pits.  Concrete, if not mixed correctly when poured, can be prone to damage.  When you wanted to resurface concrete there are several options. One option is concrete painting BrisbaneWhen using paint for your concrete floor you need to realize that with concrete it is not all created equal as some is porous and pitted or smooth and rigid so it is hard to get a smooth surface covering.  It takes special pain because traditional wall or house paint is not the right type.

Also paint does have the tendency to separate from the concrete surface after a short period of time, especially in areas where there is high traffic.  Another problem with painting concrete is moisture.  If there are seepages on the concrete to be painted and it is not taken care of before painting, the water can build up under the paint and cause the paint to blister.  One way you can fix this so paint will adhere is to put a sealer on it.  Then you will need a certain paint that will breathe so the moisture can evaporate.  You should paint the concrete into several thin coats to ensure that the areas that are irregular are covered properly.  It does take a lot of work but if it is done correctly it is worth.

For concrete surfaces like sidewalks, driveways, and patios, concrete resurfacing Brisbane is the way that you would take care of any problems without doing a complete replacement.  Resurfacing will save you money so it will enable homeowners to repair sunken or cracked surfaces.  The material is put directly on top of the existing concrete.  Before you apply the resurfacing material you need to make sure that area is clean and has no loose concrete or anything that can interfere with how the material adheres to the concrete being resurfaced.

The first step is to repair the concrete using a repair material to cover all the indentations, cracks, and other blemishes.  Once this is done you can put the refinishing material over the surface.  It works best if the area has minor damage as it will not fix any structural problems.  If you apply resurfacing products over structural damage, then the problems under the ground or major cracks will just resurface eventually.

Once you have resurfaced the area then you can paint it or stain it so it will not be a drab grey color.  If you decide to stain it instead of painting it, remember that staining concrete is forever and your concrete surface will always be that color unless you replace the concrete.
